Yadnya Kasada Ceremony
Event Date: September 23-24
This is an annual ritual held by the Tenggerese community at Ngadisari Village, Probolinggo. Thousands of pilgrims bring rice, flowers, fruit, vagetables and livestock, as well as other local products, to the foot of volcano Mt. Bromo. After the offerings are consencrated and the visitors wishes conveyed to the spirit of the mountain by Tenggerese Hindu Mahayana priests, the pilgrims ascend to the crater to ask for the blessings of Betoro Bromo (the god of Mt. Bromo). The ceremony is preceded by the inauguration of the most honoured men among the Tenggerese and highlighted bya ballet performance on the Open Air Stage at Ngadisari.
